Hush

Silence is not safety

Genre: Horror / Thriller
Platform: Watched on Tubi

Review:

Hush is a gripping horror-thriller that had me hooked from start to finish. The story follows a deaf writer who retreats to a secluded cabin in the woods for some peace and quiet—only to find herself hunted by a terrifying masked intruder.

Even though the main character doesn’t have much dialogue, she’s incredibly likable, and you can’t help but root for her the entire time. Also, let’s talk about her cat—easily one of the highlights of the movie! The fact that the cat makes it all the way to the end? That alone earns this movie some serious bonus points in my book!

The masked man may not be a supernatural creature, but he is absolutely terrifying in his own way. He’s brutal, relentless, and the way he talks to her makes me wonder if he was a former boyfriend. Either way, he’s unhinged and makes for a chilling villain.

The pacing is perfect—the movie runs about an hour and a half, which keeps things moving without ever dragging. It’s packed with suspense, some seriously intense action moments, and just enough heart to keep you fully invested.

Overall, Hush is an intense and unique horror movie with an awesome protagonist, a terrifying villain, and an adorable kitty that lives. What more could you ask for?

My Rating:10/10

The Griffin’s Mate

A swoon-worthy paranormal romance

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Platform: Read on Kindle Unlimited

Review:

The Griffin’s Mate is the first book in the Hideaway Cove series, and wow—what a fun start! This one follows Harrison and Lainie’s romance, and from the moment they meet, the sparks definitely fly.

Harrison is a griffin shifter (yes, a griffin!), and he works as a contractor, while Lainie is in Hideaway Cove to take care of her grandparents’ property. Their connection is instant, but what really makes this book stand out is how much it has to offer—there’s action, drama, strong friendships, and just an overall great small-town paranormal vibe that makes you feel right at home.

This book was such an enjoyable read, and I’m already looking forward to diving into more of the series. If the future books are anything like this, Hideaway Cove is going to be a favorite for sure!

Overall, a fantastic start to a promising series with a unique shifter romance, great characters, and a perfect mix of drama and action.

My Rating:9/10

The Inheritance

A suspenseful horror movie

Genre:
Horror
Platform: Watched on Hulu

Review:
The Inheritance is a horror movie that kept me entertained from start to finish. The story follows a wealthy family visiting their grandfather, Charles Abernathy, who built his fortune by making a deal with a demon. Originally, the deal was for wealth and success in exchange for his life on his 75th birthday. But greed got the best of him, and he tried to bargain for immortality—at the cost of his entire bloodline. His plan almost worked, but one of his sons’ wives managed to escape while pregnant, keeping the family line alive.
This movie had some really great suspenseful moments, and even though a few of the creature effects were on the cheesy side, it still had my heart racing in anticipation. The pacing was solid, sitting right around an hour and a half, which was the perfect length—long enough to enjoy without feeling like it dragged.
Overall, a fun horror movie with a cool concept, some creepy moments, and a solid family-driven storyline. While not the scariest film out there, it’s still worth a watch for horror fans!
My Rating: 6/10

Tarot

Title: Tarot
Run Line: A cursed deck, terrifying creatures, and nonstop thrills!
Genre: Horror
Platform: Watched on Netflix

Review:
Tarot is a horror movie that takes a simple idea—reading tarot cards—and turns it into a nightmare. A group of friends gather in a house for what seems like a fun night of tarot readings, but the deck they’re using is cursed. Instead of vague predictions, these cards seal their fate—whatever card they pull is how they’re destined to die. And let me just say, the way this plays out is so cool!

One of the standout moments for me was the jester scene—one of the guys draws the jester card, and sure enough, he gets hunted down by a creepy, jester-like creature. That whole concept of the tarot-themed deaths really made this movie unique and super entertaining.

It’s the perfect length—not too long, not too short—so it keeps you engaged without dragging. Sure, it has some cheesy moments (as most horror movies do), but the creature designs were awesome, the acting wasn’t bad, and despite being PG-13, it actually had some fantastic jump scares. There were definitely moments that had me on the edge of my seat!

My Rating: 7/10

If you’re into horror movies with a fun, supernatural twist and some genuinely creepy moments, Tarot is a solid pick for your next movie night. Stream it now on Netflix!

Loved by the Mountain Man

(Wild Heart Mountain: Military Heroes #1)
A sweet and emotional romance about love and second chances.

Genre: Romance
Platform: Read on Kindle Unlimited

Review:
Loved by the Mountain Man by Sadie King is the kind of romance that gives you all the warm, fuzzy feelings. This is Kobe and Hailey’s story, and let me just say—it’s as heartwarming as it is emotional.

Kobe is a former Marine with scars, both inside and out, after enduring so much during his time in the service. But Hailey? She sees past all of that. She helps him heal in the most beautiful way, and together they create the family he’s always wanted—two adorable kids and all. It’s a story about love, resilience, and finding happiness after pain, and it honestly had me hooked from the start.

The romance between Kobe and Hailey feels so genuine, and watching them build their life together was such a joy. This book has plenty of emotional moments, but it’s also super sweet and uplifting. It’s a great balance that leaves you feeling happy and satisfied by the end.

If you’re into military romances with strong, emotional storylines and lovable characters, this one is a must-read. I can’t wait to see what’s next in the Wild Heart Mountain: Military Heroes series—bring on more heartfelt stories, please!

Asher (Hawk Valley Mountain Men #1) A romance that warms your heart.

Genre: Romance
Platform: Read on Kindle Unlimited

Review:
Asher by Mazzy King kicks off the Hawk Valley Mountain Men series with a sweet, cozy romance that’s perfect for fans of small-town vibes and mountain man charm. This story follows Asher, a store owner, and Stephanie, a schoolteacher, as their worlds collide in the most dramatic way—a snowstorm and a car crash.

When Stephanie’s car crashes in the middle of a storm, Asher and his adorable pitbull mix, Sadie, come to the rescue. Sadie is such a fun addition to the story—she’s big, lovable, and has her quirks (like not being a fan of yelling or Asher’s ex, Beth). But she bonds instantly with Stephanie, which is a sweet touch that sets the tone for their budding romance.

The chemistry between Asher and Stephanie is undeniable, and their story is filled with drama, action, and plenty of steamy moments. By the end, they’ve built a life together, splitting time between the city and the mountains, with marriage and a baby on the way. It’s a heartwarming journey that’ll have you rooting for them from start to finish.

What I love most about this book is how it balances cozy small-town feels with just the right amount of spice. It’s a quick, engaging read that doesn’t drag but still packs in all the romance, drama, and happy-ever-after goodness you’d want. Plus, while the books in this series are interconnected, they work perfectly as standalones too!

My Rating: 8/10

Smile Review

A creepy, intense horror film that delivers chilling thrills and a terrifyingly unique storyline.

Title: Smile
Genre: Horror
Platform: Watched on Hulu
Studio: Paramount Pictures

Review:

Smile is a chilling horror film that takes you on a wild, gore-filled ride from the opening scene to its jaw-dropping finale. The story focuses on a psychologist who becomes entangled with a malevolent entity after witnessing the gruesome suicide of a patient. This “smile spirit” is as eerie as it is relentless, delivering an exploration of trauma, the darker aspects of human nature, and the terrifyingly supernatural.

The film doesn’t hold back, offering a mix of creepy imagery, psychological tension, and moments that will make you squirm. While the action and gore are spot-on for fans of intense horror, the movie also delves into emotionally heavy themes, making it more than just a creature feature. Be warned, though—there are some flashing lights and potentially triggering content, so viewers sensitive to such elements should take note.

From start to finish, Smile keeps you on edge, wrapping up with an ending that leaves you thinking, “Wow!” It’s a solid choice for horror fans looking for a mix of scares, blood, and a unique storyline.

Hills Have Eyes 2

Mutants, mayhem, and military muscle…

Title: Hills Have Eyes 2
Genre:  Horror
Platform: Watched on Hulu

Review:
Hills Have Eyes 2 takes everything you loved (or feared) about the original and adds a fresh twist: a military unit dropped smack in the middle of mutant hell. Unlike the first film’s unfortunate family, this group is armed and trained—though that doesn’t mean they have it easy. It’s like watching a survival horror video game come to life, complete with tense standoffs, brutal kills, and mutants that look like they crawled out of your worst nightmares.

The movie ups the stakes with its relentless pacing, throwing you straight into the action. While it doesn’t shy away from its fair share of blood and guts, the added military element makes it feel less hopeless and a little more heroic. The characters show a surprising amount of fight, which makes the moments of loss hit harder. And let’s talk about the mutants—they’re even more grotesque this time around, with some genuinely skin-crawling designs that stick with you long after the credits roll.

But this isn’t just a doom-and-gloom splatter fest. There’s a surprising dash of humor sprinkled in, whether it’s from the characters’ snarky quips or moments so absurd they’re laugh-out-loud funny. It strikes a nice balance between tension and levity, making the chaos all the more entertaining.

At about an hour and a half, the movie doesn’t waste time—it’s just the right length to deliver a satisfying story without dragging. Sure, it has its cheesy moments, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. Hills Have Eyes 2 doesn’t take itself too seriously, and neither should you.

My Rating: 9/10!

If you’re ready to face the desert horrors, stream Hills Have Eyes 2 now on Hulu. It’s an adrenaline-filled blend of frights and fun that’s perfect for horror fans who like a little action with their scares. Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr

A gory, action-packed dive into the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40K

Title: Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr

Genre: Hack-and-Slash RPG

Platform: Played on PlayStation 5

Review:

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is a hack-and-slash RPG that drops you into the unforgiving, blood-soaked universe of Warhammer 40K, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Developed by Nacon SA, this game offers a rich solo experience—perfect for someone like me who enjoys getting fully immersed in the world without distractions. That said, for those who prefer the camaraderie of friends (or strangers), there’s also the option for online and couch co-op multiplayer.

One of the game’s strongest features is its variety. There are multiple classes to choose from, each offering unique playstyles and abilities. Whether you’re a fan of heavy firepower, stealthy tactics, or brute melee force, there’s something here for everyone. Even after completing the main storyline, the game provides tons of additional content, from missions to gear upgrades, ensuring that the fun doesn’t stop when the credits roll.

Fair warning: Inquisitor – Martyr is not for the faint of heart. This game leans heavily into the grimdark aesthetic of Warhammer 40K, with plenty of gore and violence to match its dark tone. For fans of mature, intense gameplay, this just adds to the immersive experience. But if you’re squeamish, you might want to steer clear.

What truly stands out, though, is the replayability. With so many options for customization and endless ways to approach combat, this is a game you can keep coming back to. Whether you’re drawn in by the intricate lore of the Warhammer universe or just love a good, gory hack-and-slash, this game delivers on all fronts.

My Rating: 10/10!

Vincent

A chillingly fresh take on vampires…

that’ll leave you questioning everything.

Title: Vincent
Genre: Horror
Platform: Received as a private screener

Review:
Vincent is not your run-of-the-mill horror movie, and that’s exactly what makes it so intriguing. At around an hour and a half, it hits the sweet spot for storytelling—long enough to pull you into its eerie world but short enough to avoid overstaying its welcome. From the very beginning, it’s clear that this isn’t about buckets of gore or relentless jumpscares; instead, it offers a more subdued, thought-provoking take on the vampire mythos.

In this version of vampirism, Vincent isn’t a suave, cape-wearing bloodsucker lurking in the shadows. No, he’s a man struggling with a debilitating condition that makes him incredibly sick without blood. Staying cool is another necessity—fans, ice cubes, whatever he can get—adding a tangible sense of realism to his plight. It’s a fascinating spin that brings a grounded, almost scientific vibe to a classic horror trope.

What really stands out is the atmosphere. The movie has a quiet intensity, with an unsettling tone that builds slowly, leaving you on edge as the story unfolds. The ending, while not spoon-fed, is the kind that sticks with you, making you replay the film’s events in your head and wonder what you might have missed.

While it may not be for fans of traditional, gore-filled horror, Vincent offers something unique—a subtle, cerebral horror experience that leaves a lasting impression. I, for one, hope we see more inventive takes on vampires like this in the future.

My Rating: 8/10!

Curious to sink your teeth into something different? Keep an eye out for Vincent—this one’s a fresh, cool drink of vampire storytelling that’s worth a watch! (Affiliate links may be included if this becomes available on streaming platforms. Thanks for supporting my reviews!)
