Mass Effect

Space, choices, and one very chaotic Mako.

Genre: Action Shooter RPG
Platform: Played on PlayStation 5

Review:

Mass Effect is an absolute space opera masterpiece that I played on my PlayStation 5, and wow—I totally get why this series has such a cult following. Developed by Bioware and Demiurge Studios, this game launches you straight into a galaxy full of rich lore, gorgeous planets, deep conversations, and a million side quests that make you feel like you’re shaping the universe.

You play as Commander Shepard (a total legend) and get to build relationships, romance aliens (yes please), and make choices that actually matter. Like seriously, your decisions ripple through the whole game. The romances? Surprisingly heartfelt. Some of those scenes had me blushing in my headset.

Mechanics-wise, it’s mostly smooth sailing—but let’s talk about the Mako driving segments. Whew. That part had me rage-laughing because I cannot steer a space rover to save my life. But hey, struggling up a mountain in a janky moon buggy is part of the charm, right?

The combat is straightforward and satisfying, the graphics still hold up, and the voice acting? Chef’s kiss.

Overall, it’s a thrilling, emotional, sometimes chaotic journey through space that I’ll be continuing in the next games without a doubt.

Super Mario Bros. Movie

An adorable and action-packed adventure that brings the Mushroom Kingdom to life!

Genre: Animation, Adventure, Family
Platform: Watched on Amazon Prime

Super Mario Bros. Movie is an absolutely adorable movie I watched on Amazon Prime. The story revolves around the Super Mario Bros. as they embark on an adventure to save the Mushroom Kingdom. The movie is packed with catchy songs, tons of heartwarming moments, and incredible action sequences. Each character shines in their own way, but my personal favorite was Princess Peach. She’s still girly, but she’s also strong, fierce, and a total badass, which was so refreshing to see!

As someone who’s only played one Super Mario game years ago, I was still able to dive into the story and enjoy it from start to finish. The animation style is fantastic, and the voice acting is top-notch, with Jack Black bringing extra charm to the movie. It’s a movie that combines action and heart, and it really exceeded my expectations. I’m definitely hoping for a sequel because I’d love to see more of this world!

Overall, this movie is perfect for families and adults alike. It’s got plenty of action, cute moments, and will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Going Under

A quirky, challenging Roguelite dungeon crawler with hilarious moments and unique mechanics!

Genre: Roguelite, Action, Dungeon Crawler
Platform: Played on Playstation 5

Going Under is a Roguelite game I played on my Playstation 5, and it’s an absolute blast! The game has you diving into dungeons filled with unique weapons—everything from cactus plants to laptops and staplers. It’s all part of the quirky charm of the game, which centers around you working for a failed startup. There are so many cool stages, skills, and collectibles that it’ll keep you playing for hours just to see everything the game has to offer. Plus, the humor is top-notch, with plenty of funny moments sprinkled throughout!

The mechanics are great, and I especially appreciate the adjustable difficulty settings. Even though this game looks cute, it’s definitely got a challenging side, which I love. As you progress, you get various quests from your quirky coworkers, and my favorite has to be the guy who looks like a pufferfish. Once you reach a certain point in the game, you’ll get to see everyone in their true forms, and that’s honestly super exciting!

I’m still stuck on the final boss (and let me tell you, it’s tough!), but despite the difficulty, this game is definitely worth trying for anyone who enjoys a bit of humor with their challenge.

Overall, Going Under is a fantastic game with tons of replayability, cool mechanics, and a quirky sense of humor. If you’re into Roguelite games and don’t mind a challenge, I highly recommend it!

Sonic the Hedgehog 3

A fun, action-packed adventure with heart, humor, and tons of beloved characters!

Genre: Action/Adventure/Comedy
Platform: Watched on Amazon Prime with Paramount+ Add-on

Review:

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a super fun action-adventure movie that had me smiling the whole time! In this one, Sonic finally meets Shadow, and there are even two versions of Dr. Robotnik — both played by Jim Carrey, which was hilarious and awesome to watch. The movie brings back lots of familiar faces from the previous films, along with some new ones, making it feel like a huge, exciting reunion.

The animation is fantastic, with smooth CGI that blends perfectly with the live-action actors. The music and overall atmosphere really add to the experience, making the movie feel energetic and full of life. The story itself was great, balancing action, comedy, and emotional moments in a way that works for both kids and adults.

Overall, this movie was a blast and left me feeling happy and satisfied. I’d recommend it to Sonic fans of all ages — it’s a must-watch!

The Platform

A dark, gripping horror with a unique concept and intense, gruesome moments.

Genre: Horror/Thriller
Platform: Watched on Netflix

Review:

The Platform is a super intense horror movie with a unique and disturbing concept. It’s set in a massive tower-like prison with over 300 floors. A platform filled with food starts at the top, and as it lowers, each floor gets whatever’s left — meaning the lower you are, the worse things get. By the time you hit floor 150 or lower, people are so desperate they might even eat their cellmate.

The story follows Goreng, who actually chose to go there to earn a degree. Some prisoners are volunteers like him, while others are forced in. The whole movie is in Spanish, so you’ll need subtitles if you don’t speak the language, but it’s absolutely worth it. The acting is spot-on, bringing a chilling edge to an already gruesome story.

Overall, it’s a wild, unsettling ride with great acting and a storyline that sticks with you. I’m excited to watch the sequel and see where the story goes next!

Ginger’s Tale

A charming fantasy adventure with heart, music, and an adorable orange cat!

 Genre: Fantasy, Adventure
Platform: Watched on Hulu

Review:

Ginger’s Tale is a magical adventure about Ginger, a quirky and kind-hearted girl who saves her friend (and future husband) from an evil queen — and ends up becoming queen herself! The townspeople find Ginger a bit clumsy and annoying at first, but by the end, they adore her bravery and her love for both people and animals. And speaking of animals, her big, fluffy orange cat stole my heart, especially since I have one just like him in real life!

This isn’t a Disney movie, but it still has its fair share of cute songs and gorgeous animation that sometimes looks like a painting. The voice acting is impressive, especially since it’s a Russian film. I was a little confused at the beginning, but by the middle, I was fully hooked.

Overall, it’s a sweet, visually stunning movie with lots of heart. I recommend it for both kids and adults who love magical adventures!

The Nun

A chilling entry in the Conjuring universe, blending gothic horror with spine-tingling scares.

Run Line: A chilling entry in the Conjuring universe, blending gothic horror with spine-tingling scares.
Genre: Horror, Supernatural
Platform: Watched on Netflix
Review:
The Nun is a standout favorite for me in the Conjuring universe, thanks to its hauntingly atmospheric setting and old-fashioned gothic aesthetic. The movie takes place in a remote Romanian monastery, where Sister Irene and Father Burke investigate a nun’s mysterious suicide — only to uncover the sinister presence of Valak, the demon nun.
The film does an amazing job building tension with dark, eerie hallways, flickering candles, and unsettling silence that makes every shadow feel like a threat. The twist that none of the other nuns, except Sister Irene, were actually alive completely blew my mind. It added a creepy psychological layer to the horror, making you question what was real and what was part of Valak’s manipulation.
The acting is great, with Taissa Farmiga bringing a mix of innocence and strength to Sister Irene’s character. The jumpscares are well-executed and got me more than a few times — especially when Valak’s face slowly emerges from the shadows. While the nun herself is terrifying, I do wish we had more screen time with her face, as those moments were the most chilling.
Despite a few moments where the pacing slows, the movie delivers plenty of action and classic horror vibes. It wraps up with an ending that ties back to the larger Conjuring storyline, which was a cool touch for longtime fans of the franchise.
Overall, The Nun is a spooky, well-acted horror film with a rich atmosphere and plenty of scares. It’s a must-watch for fans of supernatural horror and anyone invested in the Conjuring universe!
My Rating: 7/10

Yakuza Zero

An action-packed journey through the criminal underworld with unforgettable characters and wild side activities.

Genre: Action/Beat ‘Em Up
Platform: Played on PlayStation 5

Review:

Yakuza Zero is an action-packed beat ’em up that completely blew me away! As the first game in the Yakuza series, it delivers an emotional rollercoaster of a story that keeps you hooked through all 17 chapters. You play as two protagonists: Kiryu, an ex-yakuza trying to clear his name after being framed for murder, and Goro Majima, my personal favorite character, who adds so much depth and intensity to the game.

The combat mechanics are super satisfying, with plenty of brutal fighting styles to choose from. But the game isn’t just about brawling — it’s packed with side missions and quirky mini-games like karaoke and R.C. car races. I personally stuck to fighting enemies, but the variety of activities makes the world feel alive and full of surprises.

The characters are another highlight. Whether it’s powerful allies or ruthless enemies, every interaction adds to the game’s rich storytelling. The balance of serious crime drama with hilarious, over-the-top side content makes for an unforgettable experience.

Overall, an amazing start to the Yakuza series — full of action, drama, and endless things to do. I can’t wait to dive into more games in the series!

My Rating:9/10

The Moors

A chilling, small-town horror film with an unforgettable werewolf and a whole lot of gore!

The Moors is a short horror film that I was lucky enough to get a private screening of, and wow—it did not disappoint! If you love that eerie, small-town horror vibe with a mix of gore, suspense, and even a little humor, this one is definitely for you.

The standout for me was the creature itself—the werewolf looked incredibly real and creepy, which made every attack scene feel intense and brutal. Speaking of attacks, this film does not hold back on the blood and guts. There’s a lot of carnage, from a person and their dog getting attacked to multiple people being absolutely torn apart. It’s a total bloodbath in the best way possible!

Another highlight? The soundtrack. The music added so much tension and really brought out the eerie beauty of the moors. The setting itself was hauntingly gorgeous, giving the film that perfect, unsettling atmosphere. Also, I have to give a shoutout to the dog—it was adorable, even in the middle of all the chaos!

Overall, The Moors is an awesome short horror film that delivers on scares, atmosphere, and creature design. If you get the chance to watch it, do it!

The Sea Wolf’s Mate

A heartwarming shifter romance

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Platform: Read on Kindle Unlimited

Review:

The Sea Wolf’s Mate is the second book in the Hideaway Cove series by Zoe Chant, and it just keeps getting better! This one follows Arlo and Jacqueline’s romance, and it’s such a sweet, feel-good read with a super happy ending.

One of the best parts of this series is how the community keeps growing, and each book gives little glimpses into past romances while still standing strong on its own. That said, it’s definitely best to read in order to get the full experience!

Arlo is a wolf shifter, and while he and Jacqueline don’t have biological kids, they adopt instead—which was such a heartwarming twist! Their pack includes sea otter shifter kids (adorable) and even a seagull shifter, which is such a unique addition. It’s rare to see this kind of family dynamic in shifter romances, and it made the story even more special.

Overall, this was an absolutely adorable read with tons of heart, a strong sense of community, and plenty of shifter cuteness! Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good paranormal romance with a unique twist.
