The Purge is made by Universal Studios and Bloomhouse. The government decided to let all crimes be legal for 12 hours. It started off with a wealthy family getting ready for the purge talking to the neighbors. The father James, played by Ethan Hawke, just put in a new security system … but forgot to test it before the purge. His wife Sarah (played by Leah Headey) was very disappointed that he didn’t check it.
They also have a son and a daughter. The daughter’s boyfriend Henry snuck in to spend time with her and talk to her father – but then ends up attacking James… and then James dies.
As it turns out, the neighbors were the ones that broke into the house. The son found a homeless man and decided to let him into the house. A bunch of masked people showed up with their leader and wanted the family to let the homeless man go (so that they could kill them) – but when the family decided not to leave, the whole group broke in. It turned out that the culprit was their neighbors and friends.
It was a really good movie (the beginning wasn’t that great) – when the action started, it was super good and very gory.
I give it a 6/10.
