Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game that I played on the Nintendo Switch. It’s really fun in the beginning – but as time went on, I honestly got extremely bored. I normally don’t play super slow games, and this one is definitely on the slow side.
Even with the DLC, it was a bit too open for me (with the lack of direction when I play). I like to be told what to do with quests (or at least a general objective), but this felt way too hands off. The whole time playing, I was wishing for more direction.
That said, I have friends who really like this game – so I know it’s good for some people. It just doesn’t really click with my brain whatsoever.
The villagers are super cute though – and there are fun sections, but after a year and a half (with about 200 hours in) I sort of lost interest.
Overall, it’s slow but fun (for some people).
I give it a 3/10.
