Drag Me to Hell Review

Title: Drag Me to Hell
Genre: Horror
Platform: Watched on Amazon Prime
Studio: Ghost House Pictures
Rating: PG-13

Review:

Drag Me to Hell serves up a fun, campy horror experience with just the right balance of frights and laughs. Despite its PG-13 rating, it still manages to deliver some gross-out moments and a few solid jumpscares. The story follows a cursed protagonist whose bad luck escalates to a hilariously grim conclusion—yes, she does indeed get dragged to hell, and in a way that will either leave you gasping or chuckling at the sheer absurdity.

The acting is decent but nothing to write home about, and the special effects hover somewhere between charmingly retro and laughably cheesy. It’s a movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it a great one-off watch when you’re in the mood for lighter horror.

While Drag Me to Hell might not be groundbreaking, it’s still a fun ride, perfect for fans of campy scares with a touch of humor.

Bioshock Infinite Review

Title: Bioshock Infinite
Genre: First-Person Shooter
Platform: Played on PlayStation 5
Developer: Irrational Games
Release Year: 2013

Review:

Despite its 2013 release, Bioshock Infinite holds up remarkably well as a visually stunning and deeply rewarding gaming experience. Its steampunk aesthetic, coupled with an unforgettable soundtrack, creates a captivating atmosphere that immerses you in the floating city of Columbia. From the detailed environments to the story-driven gameplay, this title feels timeless.

The gameplay itself is both challenging and satisfying, offering a variety of weapons, powers, and unique mechanics like the ability to possess enemies and turn robots into allies. (Though, fair warning, the human possessions have a darker edge as the subjects often meet grim fates.) With plenty of achievements to collect and thrilling combat scenarios, it keeps you engaged throughout its story.

Be aware, though, that the game includes some flashing lights and themes that might not be suitable for all players. But for fans of first-person shooters with a rich narrative, Bioshock Infinite is a must-play. I’m now even more excited to explore the earlier entries in the series.

My Rating: 8/10Ready to dive into the world of Columbia? You can experience Bioshock Infinite yourself by grabbing a copy on Amazon. (As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases—thanks for helping me keep these reviews coming!)

What Remains of Edith Finch

Title: What Remains of Edith Finch
Genre: First-Person Exploration
Platform: Played on PlayStation 5

Review:

What Remains of Edith Finch is a beautifully crafted first-person exploration game that offers a unique, immersive storytelling experience. I played it on my PlayStation 5, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and emotionally engaging gaming journeys I’ve had in a while.

The game has you exploring the lives of various family members, each with their own tragic story. What really stood out for me was how different each segment felt—each family member’s story had its own gameplay mechanics, whether you were chopping fish, flying a kite, or even playing with bath toys. The variety kept things fresh and exciting. The fact that you’re playing through a journal gives it an extra layer of depth that just drew me in even more.

Another thing I appreciated is that it wasn’t rage-inducing at all. The focus on exploration and storytelling over difficult gameplay made it a relaxing yet emotional experience. It’s definitely a game I’d recommend to adults looking for something thoughtful and reflective—though probably a bit too mature for younger audiences due to its themes.

Overall, What Remains of Edith Finch is a wonderfully crafted game, and I hope to see more games like this in the future. It’s a perfect example of how video games can be art.

My Rating: 9/10

If you’re looking for a unique and meaningful gaming experience, What Remains of Edith Finch is definitely one to check out. It’s a hauntingly beautiful story that will leave you thinking long after the credits roll.

Massacre at Femur Creek

Title: Massacre at Femur Creek
Genre: Horror/Comedy
Received as: Private screener

Review:

Massacre at Femur Creek is a horror/comedy gem that was sent to me for review, and I have to say, it’s a wickedly fun ride! The movie has a very 80s retro aesthetic, which comes through not only in the killer’s appearance but also in the overall vibe of the film. The filmmakers clearly had fun channeling that classic slasher feel, and it worked brilliantly.

One thing that really stood out was the acting. The cast does a great job of mixing horror with humor, and I was entertained the whole way through. There’s plenty of gore, as you’d expect, but the surprising amount of humor adds an extra layer of enjoyment. The retro touch extends to props too—seeing vintage old cell phones used in the movie was a fun detail that added to the charm.

At around an hour and a half, the film hits that sweet spot for length—it’s long enough to pull you into the chaos but short enough to avoid dragging on. I’m sure that once Massacre at Femur Creek is released on a streaming platform, it will do really well. It’s the perfect blend of bloody action and laugh-out-loud moments that horror/comedy fans will love.

My Rating: 8/10

If you’re a fan of 80s-style slasher films with a comedic twist, Massacre at Femur Creek will hit all the right notes. Keep an eye out for it on streaming services—it’s sure to be a bloody good time! 🔪

Tails Noir

Title: Tails Noir
Genre: Indie Role-Playing Game
Platform: Played on PlayStation 5

Review:

Tails Noir is a unique and fascinating indie RPG that I played on my PlayStation 5, and let me tell you—it’s both fun and unexpectedly strange in the best way possible. You play as Howard Loctar, a humanoid raccoon and private investigator, who begins by taking on a seemingly straightforward case of infidelity. But as you dive deeper, the game reveals a much darker and weirder narrative involving everything from cannibalism to alien-like possession.

One of the coolest aspects of Tails Noir is that all the characters are anthropomorphic animals, ranging from mice and cats to beavers and foxes. The Soviet-era aesthetic adds a unique atmosphere that I absolutely loved, and the music paired perfectly with the setting, enhancing the overall experience.

While the game touches on some darker themes, including its eerie twists toward the end, the quirky charm is hard to miss. There were some stealth mechanics involved, and even though stealth isn’t my strong suit and caused a bit of rage, it wasn’t too unbearable. The exploration and abundance of achievements made me want to delve deeper into this world, and I’m already looking forward to replaying it to hunt for more achievements.Overall, Tails Noir is an engaging game full of quirky characters, darker moments, and a fascinating story that keeps you hooked. It’s an indie gem worth checking out if you like RPGs with a unique twist!

Zoo Days

Season 1 Review

Title: Zoo Days – Season 1
Genre: Docuseries
Streaming Service: Amazon Prime

Review:

Zoo Days Season 1 is an absolutely heartwarming docuseries that I binged on Amazon Prime, and it’s set at Chester Zoo in the United Kingdom. The show offers an up-close look at the lives of the animals and their dedicated keepers, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes view of zoo life. What I really appreciated about this series was its honesty—while many moments were adorable, the show didn’t shy away from the harsh realities of working with animals, including the fact that not all of them survive.

The season consists of 20 episodes, each around 21 minutes long, making it super easy to binge-watch (and I did!). I’ve got five seasons in total to look forward to, so my animal-loving heart is happy! One thing that was a bit funny—being an American, I found myself constantly Googling the kilos-to-pounds conversions to figure out how much these animals weighed!

The medical aspect of the show was really fascinating, too. Watching the veterinarians and zookeepers care for the animals, from surgeries to day-to-day checkups, was captivating. The bonds between the animals and their keepers were touching, making it even more special.Overall, Zoo Days is an amazing docuseries that gives you a real sense of what life is like at the zoo, both for the animals and the humans who care for them. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the seasons!

My Rating: 10/10

If you’re a fan of animals and zoos, Zoo Days is a must-watch! 🐘🦒 Get an inside look at the real life of zookeepers and their beloved animals in this heartwarming and honest series.

Last of Us Part 1

Title: Last of Us Part 1
Genre: Action/Adventure
Platform: Played on PlayStation through PlayStation Plus
Developer: Naughty Dog

Review:

Last of Us Part 1 is an unforgettable action/adventure game that I played on my PlayStation, and it truly lives up to the high praise it gets. Created by Naughty Dog, this game is packed with intense emotional highs and lows, and by the time you reach the end, you feel a bittersweet sense of satisfaction.

The game has 29 trophies, and they vary in difficulty. Some are quite challenging, while others are more lighthearted, like the charming “pet the dog” achievement. The game consists of 12 gripping chapters that constantly keep you on your toes. Throughout my playthrough, I experienced a fair share of deaths (and frustrations), but the journey was absolutely worth it.

The storytelling is what makes Last of Us Part 1 so compelling, balancing action with heartfelt moments that hit hard emotionally. The character development is rich, and the world they’ve built draws you in completely.

Overall, this is a must-play game with a captivating story and plenty of emotional twists. Despite some tough moments, it’s one of those gaming experiences that stays with you long after you finish.

Beyond the Chamber of Terror

Movie Review

Title: Beyond the Chamber of Terror
Genre: Horror/Thriller

Review:

Beyond the Chamber of Terror is a film I had the opportunity to review, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it! The movie runs about an hour and a half, which I found to be the perfect length—just enough to dive into the story without dragging things out. It left me hoping they’ll make another one in the future, as the mix of genres was intriguing and fresh.

The film is a fascinating blend of mafia-style action and paranormal horror, featuring zombie-vampire creatures that can be brought back from the dead. This unique mix of elements gave the movie a standout appeal, setting it apart from traditional horror films. The combination of mafia action with the supernatural was well-executed, keeping me invested throughout.

The gore factor is definitely present, adding to the overall intensity of the movie. The action sequences were well done, and the paranormal creatures were both eerie and interesting. I think fans of both horror and crime genres will enjoy this one—it’s a thrilling, gory ride with a mix of mafia suspense and the undead.

Overall, Beyond the Chamber of Terror is an entertaining and creative film that strikes the right balance between action and horror. I totally recommend people give it a watch once it’s officially released!

My Rating: 8/10

Abigail

Movie Review

Title: Abigail
Platform: Peacock
Genre: Horror

Review:

Abigail is a horror movie that takes a unique twist on the vampire genre, blending it with the elegance of ballet. I watched it on Peacock, and at first, I was skeptical about the concept of a vampire ballerina. It sounds a bit cringey, but trust me—it’s a gory and thrilling ride that surprised me in the best way possible.

The movie centers around Abigail, who appears to be a young girl but is actually an ancient vampire. Her small stature and innocent appearance are deceptive, masking the terrifying power she possesses. The plot kicks into high gear when a group of criminals targets Abigail for a kidnapping, injecting her with a sedative to keep her subdued until they can demand a ransom from her incredibly wealthy father.

Things really get interesting when Abigail awakens and reveals her true vampire form. With her sharp teeth and glowing blue eyes, she is both mesmerizing and horrifying—a perfect blend for a creature of the night. One of the standout elements of Abigail is its portrayal of vampire hierarchy and control. Vampires who turn others have the ability to control them, almost like puppets, which adds a fascinating layer to the film’s dynamics and elevates the story beyond a typical vampire flick.

The movie doesn’t shy away from blood and gore, which makes it all the more intense. Abigail’s transformation scenes and the ensuing chaos are some of the most captivating moments in the movie. The film does a great job of balancing horror with the grace of ballet, creating a unique atmosphere that I haven’t seen in other horror movies.

Even though Abigail might sound unusual, it definitely delivers on the horror front. The ending is quite interesting, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering what comes next—even if only one of them survives!

If you’re in the mood for a horror movie that offers something a little different, Abigail is definitely worth a watch. Just be prepared for a blood-soaked, ballet-filled adventure that will keep you hooked from start to finish! 🩸🩰🦇

Neverwinter Nights:

Enhanced Edition Game Review

Game: Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC
Review:
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is a classic role-playing game that I’ve had the chance to play on multiple platforms, including the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. While it’s been enjoyable revisiting this game, there are some noticeable flaws that have affected my overall experience.
One of the most frustrating issues I’ve encountered is with the character creation process. Every time I try to create a new character, the game seems to randomize the character’s attributes and appearance, which can be quite annoying if you have a specific build or character concept in mind. While some might find the randomness fun, it definitely takes away from the customization aspect that many players, including myself, value in RPGs.
The core premise of Neverwinter Nights remains solid, but it’s clear that the game could benefit greatly from a modern update. The graphics and storytelling feel quite dated, and I can’t help but wish for a full remake with contemporary visuals and a refreshed narrative. There’s so much potential here that isn’t being fully realized, especially given how much the RPG genre has evolved over the years.
Despite these issues, the game still offers a decent experience for those who enjoy classic RPGs and don’t mind some glitches. It’s nostalgic and can be quite fun to play, but it’s far from perfect.
My Rating: 5/10
If you’re a fan of old-school RPGs and have a lot of patience, Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition might be worth a look. However, be prepared for some frustrating bugs and a character creation system that may not always work in your favor. 🎮🛡️✨
