Mass Effect

Space, choices, and one very chaotic Mako.

Genre: Action Shooter RPG
Platform: Played on PlayStation 5

Review:

Mass Effect is an absolute space opera masterpiece that I played on my PlayStation 5, and wow—I totally get why this series has such a cult following. Developed by Bioware and Demiurge Studios, this game launches you straight into a galaxy full of rich lore, gorgeous planets, deep conversations, and a million side quests that make you feel like you’re shaping the universe.

You play as Commander Shepard (a total legend) and get to build relationships, romance aliens (yes please), and make choices that actually matter. Like seriously, your decisions ripple through the whole game. The romances? Surprisingly heartfelt. Some of those scenes had me blushing in my headset.

Mechanics-wise, it’s mostly smooth sailing—but let’s talk about the Mako driving segments. Whew. That part had me rage-laughing because I cannot steer a space rover to save my life. But hey, struggling up a mountain in a janky moon buggy is part of the charm, right?

The combat is straightforward and satisfying, the graphics still hold up, and the voice acting? Chef’s kiss.

Overall, it’s a thrilling, emotional, sometimes chaotic journey through space that I’ll be continuing in the next games without a doubt.

My Rating: 8.5/10
