Tragedy strikes when her partner dies in a car crash right outside their former home, leaving Jessabelle paralyzed from the waist down. In the wake of this life-altering event, she makes the decision to move in with her father, who resides down south.
As Jessabelle settles into her new surroundings, unsettling events begin to unfold. She stumbles upon a series of tapes featuring her deceased mother, who had a belief in her ability to predict the future. However, Jessabelle’s father takes a drastic step by setting these tapes on fire, leading Jessabelle to unravel a web of dark secrets that her mother left behind. In the process, she discovers that the townsfolk harbor deep-seated animosity towards her due to something her mother did when she was just a baby.
One of the film’s standout elements is the underwater scene towards the end, which serves as a captivating depiction of possession. Throughout the movie, the creative use of camera angles and cinematography adds to the overall creepiness, effectively immersing viewers in the eerie atmosphere of the story.
