Mutants, mayhem, and military muscle…
Title: Hills Have Eyes 2
Genre: Horror
Platform: Watched on Hulu
Review:
Hills Have Eyes 2 takes everything you loved (or feared) about the original and adds a fresh twist: a military unit dropped smack in the middle of mutant hell. Unlike the first film’s unfortunate family, this group is armed and trained—though that doesn’t mean they have it easy. It’s like watching a survival horror video game come to life, complete with tense standoffs, brutal kills, and mutants that look like they crawled out of your worst nightmares.
The movie ups the stakes with its relentless pacing, throwing you straight into the action. While it doesn’t shy away from its fair share of blood and guts, the added military element makes it feel less hopeless and a little more heroic. The characters show a surprising amount of fight, which makes the moments of loss hit harder. And let’s talk about the mutants—they’re even more grotesque this time around, with some genuinely skin-crawling designs that stick with you long after the credits roll.
But this isn’t just a doom-and-gloom splatter fest. There’s a surprising dash of humor sprinkled in, whether it’s from the characters’ snarky quips or moments so absurd they’re laugh-out-loud funny. It strikes a nice balance between tension and levity, making the chaos all the more entertaining.
At about an hour and a half, the movie doesn’t waste time—it’s just the right length to deliver a satisfying story without dragging. Sure, it has its cheesy moments, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. Hills Have Eyes 2 doesn’t take itself too seriously, and neither should you.
My Rating: 9/10!
