Christine (2016)

A Tale of Darkness and Descent

Christine, a movie I stumbled upon while browsing Netflix, turned out to be quite the hidden gem. Admittedly, it had a slow start that might have deterred some, but I decided to stick with it, given my appreciation for Michael C. Hall’s previous work. And boy, am I glad I did!

The film follows Christine, a dedicated and optimistic journalist, as her life takes a harrowing and unsettling turn. Her character arc, transitioning from covering uplifting stories to delving into the darker aspects of life, eventually culminates in a disturbing descent into madness. It was a gripping narrative that had me hooked from start to finish.

One intriguing aspect of Christine was its depiction of technology and the workplace in the late ’70s. Witnessing the clunky, analog equipment and old-school newsroom dynamics added a layer of nostalgia and historical context to the story.

I’ve heard whispers of a documentary about the making of this movie, but it seems to be as elusive as Christine’s descent into darkness. I’ll definitely keep my eyes peeled for it because the process of bringing this story to life must be equally fascinating.

Overall, Christine (2016) is a riveting movie that delivers a unique and thought-provoking experience. It offers interesting scenes, a dash of nostalgia, and a truly gory finale that leaves a lasting impression. An 8/10 for this captivating cinematic journey!
